Hello! My name is Kim Russell and I'd like to thank you for visiting Hound Away From Home.
My own passion for dogs started when I was VERY young and it manifested itself in many different ways throughout the years. As a young girl I would spend endless hours walking the neighbor's dogs because I wasn't allowed to have one of my own. When I was old enough, that turned into volunteering for the local animal shelter. I vowed that once I moved out I would have my own dog and that is exactly what happened! My first dog, Oscar, was a mix breed from the SPCA. He taught me a lot and was my "gateway dog" into the world of training and canine sport competitions. Many years have gone by and I'm still learning a lot from every dog that comes into my life. My all time favorite thing in the world is spending hours with a group of dogs simply observing their interactions, play styles and the split seconds, subtle communication that occurs between canines. Which is why offering the In-Home services I do is a true dream come true!
